Been reading some reviews and I am having alot of problems finding information on this cpu and how good it overclocks. I ordered this cpu the other day because the price was perfect @ 134.00. Just wanting to know if you purchased this cpu from them what stepping did you get and how good it overclocks?? Thanks

This is of course hear-say but, ive read many conversations about how the e6 dont oc as well as the e3, however, Id think the e6 have improvments and are better at stock. Apparently just dont oc as high. Since Ive never messed with both myself, I couldnt say. The only real way to test that theory, is for someone to buy both chips and test them with the same rig, and mobo/settings and see how high they can get.

i have tried both on my system and the 3000+ e6 i had could only max oc 2.6ghz @ 1.65v. as for my e3 it oc's to 2.7ghz @ 1.50v. at stock speeds they both run well and cool.

Well there ya go, someone actually has tested it. Not to say, 100mhz difference is a big deal. :p

haha its not because of the 100mhz difference, its was the voltage. at 1.65v it was running pretty hot for me and the max temp of mine was 55c and it idled at 45c so load would be around 53c. my e3 max temp is 59c idles 36c max 44c. if i had gotten the e6 first i would've been happy with 2.5ghz @ 1.5v but i didnt. so mine is just sitting here waiting for my gf when she decides she wants a new comp.

I bought an 3200+ E6 about a week ago from Ewiz...couldn't resist that price. :)

Right now it's running at 2400 @ 1.5V, but it will do 2500 @ 1.55V and takes 1.65V @ 2600 to become stable. Heat was an issue at 1.65, so I decided to back it off. From my experience as well as others on these forums...they definitely do not overclock as well as some of the older Venices or Winchesters even. Still...a 2500 mhz chip for $135 is still a great deal IMHO.

I have a 3000 e6 0530 and a 3200 e6 0531, both are pretty much topped out at 2.5ghz at 1.55v, didn't go higher. I can tell you that they run maybe 2-4 degrees cooler than the e3 at the same voltage.
