Yes, it's OK.

if you're building a new rig, may as well go 4gigs though. DDR2 is dirt cheap.

Yes, go for the extra 2 gigs of RAM.

I'll definitely go 4GB. I'm upgrading a few things this weekend (vid, cpu, mobo) and was hoping I could install 64 bit Vista Enterprise instead of dual booting until I got more RAM.

I ran Vista 64 with 2GB of RAM for a few months, then upped to 4GB, the difference is substantial.

Then when the Egg had G.Skill for like $40 per 4GB after rebate, I snagged 8GB and doubled myself again. Vista loves the RAM.

Its OK, its not great, you will get hard drive thrashing if you minimize games somtimes, company of heros on medium settings will take ages to minimize, get 4GB, its waaay better.

The incremental cost of $10-20 for that 2GB would be a more worthwhile upgrade than just about anything else you could get for $10-20. Well worth it, with Vista 64 and the price of RAM there's really no reason not to go for 4GB.

They also did a similar follow-up with Core i7 and 3GB vs. 6GB, I believe. Take it with a small grain of salt, as they are in the business of selling RAM, however, their conclusions are generally backed and mirrored by other reviews and user experience.
