Anyone gaming on their TV?

I got booted from the bedroom so I have my setup moved to the living room. Being the PC is three feet from a 46" LCD I decided to give the couch experience a shot. I got a Apple Wireless Keyboard and a Logitech G4 mouse. I put the keyboard in my lap and just the arm rest of the couch as a mouse pad.

It works surprisingly well (720p, 5.1 sound) other than a little choppiness in the mouse which I can't decide if it's the surface, distance, or drivers. If I can work that kink out this setup is definitely workable. I do 95% of "non-game PC stuff" on my notebook anyway.

Anyone else do this?

I use my cheapo 27 inch, 720p hdtv as my computer gaming monitor. Games look good and since the screen is fairly small I can use my wired keyboard/mouse and sit kinda close to the screen (a bit less than 3 feet). My vista desktop pc is used just for gaming while I use my macbook for everyday stuff (web, instant messaging, email..etc).

not really. I have the pc hooked up to my 40" tv for when I feel lazy but otherwise I use my 22" monitor for gaming. Definitely.

My 37" Aquos 1080P set is my monitor. I sit about 3 feet from it.

Yup, i have been without a desk for over a year. i bought a 30" board from home depot that is used for DIY shelving and put that on my lap. I play CS:S no problem with this setup on my 37" 1080P LCD.

I've used my Sony 42" for HL2 and CS:S and it looks great, but at 7 feet away I also have a mouse problem which takes the fun out of it.

I played some Crysis and CoD4 on the 46" 1080P TV at my other house over Christmas break. It looked amazing and my 8800GT handled it quite well (granted, Crysis got a bit slow at times).

I cannot bear going to work and using the piddly laptop they have me use thee.

Almost set up. The only problem is the mouse if RF and the keyboard is Bluetooth and I think they interfere with one another. I had to string them both apart from each other using USB extension cables and it seems to work well. Just played HL:E2, Portal, and CoD4 @ 720p and they all looked great. The HL games do 1080p on my 7950GT but the text is too small to read from across the room. I think I can live with this.

There is no such thing. Perhaps you meant 1080p?

Anyway, I use a 50" 768p Panasonic plasma as my primary monitor. I've got a wireless mouse as well, but use a wired one with a USB extension cable for gaming due to the aforementioned smoothness issue. I have yet to find a wireless mouse that provides as smooth of movement as a good wired model, if anyone knows of one please let me know.

Also, I recently found myself a coffee table that's top lifts up and towards me to function as a desk. Much nicer than balancing the keyboard on the lap and a mousepad to the side.

This is my setup. The Samsung 32" fits perfectly on the desk. My eyes are roughly 3 feet from the monitor/TV. I have a nice comfy chair with padded arm rests that make it perfect to rest my arms on them while using the keyboard and trackball. The TV has a headphone jack so I can game or watch a movie with my excellent Sony MDR-V600 headphones. The only thing I'm missing is a slide out beer tray. I wonder if they make those...

The G7 is very smooth (if you have no interference). Smooth as my wired mouse as far as I can tell. I got it pretty bad with interference). NYC apartment, 10 wireless networks visible from my floor alone, 360, PS3, 2.6Ghz phone, two notebooks with Bluetooth, Blackberrys with Bluetooth. Ouch.
