Looks like I might have an evening to kill in your neck of the woods, and want to make sure I don't end up in a bad part of town horribly out-gunned. ;) I am not a total stranger to the area, but haven't had an occasion to overnight there in a number of years. In general, is the Bossier City side of the river (Riverwalk area) decent? Of course if I had my way, I would get a free room at one of the casinos after relieving them of a significant chunk of change, but I don't have that kind of luck. :( If there are any places that I definitely need to stay away from please post or PM.

The only good hotels are in the casinos. The new boardwalk is basically an outdoor mall with some decent chain restaurants. It?s a safe area along with the stuff that is immediately around it. I live about 45 minutes away and will go over to kill time. Most of the nightlife is on the Shreveport side of the river across from the boardwalk. It can get a little sketchy downtown. If you are looking for good food try Superior Bar and Grill it is a great place to eat and the bar is usually hopping. http://www.superiorgrill.com/

Everything jsoles said is correct. If you are just going to be here one night, then stick to the Boardwalk and casinos.
