I'm on forrest hill....and wtf, internet is slow as a donkey making love to an ant....i used to be over on marshall st, and got 3mbit 24/7 there even with a bunch of college students on my pipe...but over here at my new place, even at 4 am i get barely over 1mbit...this normal to be expected out here? or....do i need to bitch at comcast

try using a program like download accelerator. you can probably hit 3mbps just fine if you've got a lot of transfers going. when i had adelphia powerlink, i averaged about 500kbps any time of the day. however, if i used download accerlerator, i hit OVER 3mbps. same with bit-torrent. That area might be a new area of coverage out there, so they be suckin! i switched over to verizon. it's only 1.5/384, but at least i get 1.3mbps like all the time no matter what time of day it is.

nah...dap doesnt do anything to help on speed tests from places like dsl reports...i hope its just bad wire from the street to my house...and not just old shotty lines in the ground
