I currently live in Central Florida and while it sounds exciting and all ... it's not. You REALLY have to like tourists and strip malls, traffic and crowds to live here.

That being said ... I applied for a job near Ft. Campbell, Ky, on the state line between Ky and Tennessee and it looks like I may end up getting it. If you currently live near there of have ever lived there PLEASE let me know about the area, what it's good and bad points are, etc. I would really appreciate it.

Thanks ...

I lived in the Fulton/Union City/Martin TN area for a couple of summers in college.

Flat land, no wind or scenery. I was humping 2 jobs and going to school. Drinking beer in the cornfields on weekends. Small town life, that's about all.

Well, I've been stationed at Campbell for the last 3+ years, although I've only been in clarksville for about 17 months :D

I think its a great area, but it depends on what you're used to. Its a lot quieter then a big city, but still enough to do. I lived a few blocks off of Exit #1, just in TN and it was the perfect location. I could take Tiny Town or I-24 to work, and exit 4 has the mall among other things. The movie theatre is also right by exit 1.

And if you dont mind a 45 minute drive, Nashville presents plenty of options as well.

Not sure what kind of salary you would be pulling, but you can find VERY cheap housing in the area. Like $80k homes. And the 101st should be heading back to Iraq soon so housing will be available.

Let me know what else you want to know.

I assume you are moving up to Clarksville area?

I live north of Nashville and have my whole life, but never in Clarksville area. I've heard it's building up and not a bad part of town. I know people who live close to there and go shopping and eating there.

The nice thing is you're no more than 45 mins from Downtown Nashville. A lot of people live in Clarksville and work in Nashville.

OMGBBQ!

Really. Good food in that part of Tennessee. Of course you'll die young if you eat it might it might be worth it. If you like canoing or rowing you can get yourself a stump jumper and hit the backwaters.

Edit: Also, if you do end up at Ft Campbell, be sure to ask around about the radioactive dead dog landfill.
