Anyone from Alpharetta GA or near by areas?

Anyone here live in Alpharetta GA area or North Fulton county?

I got a pretty nice job offer doing exactly what I want for the pay I want and really like that area but have only visited there and I'm sure it's different to actually live there.

Anyone have any input or advice on that area as far as living, I already know that cost of living is cheaper there than here in South FL and I'd be making about $15k more a year on top of it so I'm pretty much ready to make the leap, just looking for some input from those that live there.

Nice area....lots of traffic....especially Ga. 400. I lived in Atlanta for 10 years....and Alpharetta is considered one the more upscale neighborhoods......

traffic sucks
atlanta is nice overall
stay outside the loop, unless going to Turner Field (just kidding)

FileZz and Narse live that way I believe.

Alpharetta is a nice area, I used to do alot of work down there.

I said this in another thread...key to happiness to living in Atlanta is to live near where you work. Fortunately, Alpharetta is actually a nice apart of Atlanta to live in.

I work over in Alpharetta right now. You can't go wrong finding apartments, houses, or rentals over there.

i think ulfwald lives on the north side also

Alpharetta is a great place to live.

It's best to move close to where you work. It will make dealing with Atlanta traffic a lot easier

Traffic is ruff.

It can get cold in the winter in the teens sometimes.

we have lots of lan parties 😉

I have to wonder if it can be any worse than the Miami traffic I deal with every day, that is just horrible.

But I'd get an apartment in Alpharetta to keep the commute down as much as possible.

Oh yeah....stay the hell away from the Northpoint mall area during the Christmas shopping season unless you absolutely can not avoid it. Actually, don't go into Northpoint Mall at all unless you are really nimble. You're bound to get run over by a double or triple stroller!

You can get lots of good deals on apartments right now (reduced rent, free months, etc). Bargain your way around when you apartment hunt.

Ulfwald checing in from Woodstock. 😀

Alapharetta is a VERY nice place to live and work, but it is also fulton county where most of your tax dollars go to pay for services and handouts for the poorer southside of Atlanta. Best places to live are the outter counties that surround fulton. I live in woodstock, but had to commute to Alapharetta for about a year, and it was worth it. You actually get more house and property for your money in Cherokee County, which is where Woodstock is located.

Shoot me a PM with questions you need answered.

I live in Alpharetta currently, it's nice. As long as you will be working nearby, it'll be fine. I wouldntt want to have to drive downtown (Atlanta) or go either weest to Marietta or east to Gwinett becuase the traffic sucks.

I've seem a bazillion condos and townhomes being built all around Northpoint mall, just across GA400 on the west side. Also all up/down hwy 9 there are new homes/townhomes/condos around as well. Don't know much about apartments though.

I like living on the west side of GA 400 (downtown Alpharetta), it seems the east side (off Haynes Bridge, Old Milton ,that area) there are a lot of new subdivisions that have been built, and the roads haven't been upgraded to deal with the heavy traffic (lots of little two lane roads, not many left turn lanes at lights, that sort of thing).

Actually, he can live right on the border of Fulton in Forsyth County and he'd still be considered to be in Alpharetta I think.

You're kidding me. It does NOT get cold in Atlanta. Try Ohio, as I'm learning. Damn teens already for a week or so. Wind chill on Black Friday morning was FOUR. Friggin' ridiculous!

Used to live in Marietta, Forsyth County, then Atlanta proper and finally Sandy Springs/Dunwoody. Do not miss the traffic at all!

I live in Dunwoody, just south of Alpharetta. I personally prefer where I live as I am across the street from the northern-most MARTA station and am like the second exit after the toll booth on GA-400. Most of the 400 traffic is north of me, and my commute south is easy after the I-285 split until I get to I-85. I have the convenience of the Perimeter Mall area as well as the Alpharetta area if I want to drive 15 minutes north.

My cousing lives down there, he's a graphic designer and music tech...nice area, cheap real estate and fairl close to Atlanta.

Well if all goes as planned, it'd be at the new year.
My target date to move is in that dead time between Christmas and New Years. I am probably going to start work the second week. It looks like we'll both be stumbling around. Are you planning on buying or renting for housing? I am trying to work on housing today.

I live in Roswell area, East Cobb, real expensive part of town. Alpharetta is a real nice place to live, it is real hard to find a bad neighborhood in that part of town. I noticed someone mentioned earlier about woodstock which is where i was raised. I would not live there unless you really LOVE mexicans. No offense to anyone but that area is getting infested with them because of the low costs. If you look at buying like a 2400 Sq Ft. house in alpharetta look at spending around 350,000 AT LEAST, but overall Alpharetta is real nice. What copmany are you going to be workign for?

My sister lives in Marietta. It's a nice area because every 2-4 miles there's another intersection with the exact same grocery store, video store, fast food, sit down restuarants, etc... Convenient and there are definitely lots of places to go to do stuff... It's basically one big shopping mall there.
