Should I be fine taking a backpack as carryon? I know right after the attacks they really limited carryon stuff, so I'm wondering if a backpack will be ok. It'll be a big pain if I have to stick it in a suitcase and check it. :(

I flew with a backpack and a laptop inside. Security didn't mind as long as they could turn the computer on and inspect the contents of my bag and check my cellphone...

I'm more worried about carrying my HUGE bottle of wine on the plane--this thing is like 3 bottles of wine in one...could be seen as a bludgeoning weapon??? It won't fit in my suitcase...

just got back from ATL@5:20 pm.

just be prepared for hightened security. size of carry on doesn't matter - it is what you have in it that does. stay away from anything that can be construed as a weapon and arrive at airport 2 hrs before flight to check in at ticket counter.

You'll be absolutely fine. The advice they give as far as what to carry is, "If you think it 'might' be a construed as a problem, leave it at home."

My sister flew out of Houston Hobby yesterday morning. She was allowed a Suitcase, a gymbag, and a carryon. They opened all of her bags and sifted through everything. She was so embarrassed because they were just putting her bras and panties and stuff on display so everyone could see (she is 20).

I don't think I will fly any time soon. I prefer to drive anyway. I drove 16.5 hours straight for over 1000 miles to see my mom. I'd rather just drive than have some stranger digging in my belongings.

AND with this post I make 3001 posts. Should I be proud or ashamed to make diamond member??? hehe...
