Don't wear tennis shoes.

Why?

IIRC, wearing tennis shoes makes it more likely to get you out of line to check them.

I could remember that wrong though, I rarely wear tennis shoes...

Rubbish. I travel over 150 days a year and I wear tennis shoes many times. Never had a single problem going through security. If you wear dress shoes with metal in the heel, they will make you take them off and run them though seperately.

I agree that I've never had any issues wearing tennis shoes. If I'm wearing any other type of shoes, I usually just take them off and put them in a bin. This avoids any hassles.

I *lost* a screwdriver at work. I searched my entire laptop bag before leaving for the airport, but somehow I missed one random pocket. Boom it set off the machine, and they told me I could mail it to myself, have someone pick it up, or they could keep it. It was a .99 cent special, so I just let them keep it. Boy was I embarrassed.
