Does anyone know if you can do co-op via System Link?

We tried it yesterday w/ two players per Xbox and it didn't work. Yet we were pretty sure it claimed that you could do a System Link Co-Op game. If you couldn't, why would it give you that option under System Link?

You can't do co-op over system link. I beat it yesterday and was supremely disappointed by the ending.

 

Beat it today...what a terrible ending.
