The nVidia 9600GT "GREEN edition" sure caught my attention... ~95% of the speed but only half the power requirements. No 6-pin connector!

...but has anyone seen one yet?

Noooooo... well... maybe. Only from nVidia. They just revamped the 9600GT to use less power and clocked it just a liiitle slower. It'll still outperform the 4670 by a bit. Not a lot....

I'd take a 4670 low-profile in a heartbeat though.... naw... I'd take whichever of the two performs better for the lowest price and power-draw.

In the same way a Hummer gets GREAT mileage when it sits unused in the driveway.

Guns aren't dangerous when you point them away from your face

great way to put it... sure shutting down the PC when you aren't USING it is better... but sometimes you ARE using the PC for a long stretch of time, for those time periods great power efficiency is useful.

One here, too.. Haven't found either one for sale yet, though.

http://www.inno3d.com/products...d/gf9/9600gt_esave.htm

From the Sparkle site:

Core Clock 600MHz, Memory Clock 1800MHz

Keeping the same performance and without the need of external power supply, the card's overall power consumption downs to 59W from 96W, with incredible 40% power consumption efficiency.

I imagine you should be able to overclock it back to stock (650MHz and 1800Mhz) and still keep most of the energy savings and not need a connector, right?

edit: Galaxy and Zotac also. Apparently, the Galaxy will still have a 6-pin connector.
