Anyone figured out how to get 80mm fan onto SK-6?

I have an SK-6 and like it alot, but hate the noise (38cfm@ 46.5db). So I'm trying to come up with a few ideas for replacing the fan but since it only comes with wires to hold on the fan I can't figure how I'd get an 80 on it. I could just put a 60mm on it but trying to get a cfm around 25-30 with a decent dbA isn't workin out to well. Has anyone's jimmy rigged something to hold on an 80 to it with the wires or some other way? I don't think the board has the holes on the motherboard so if you have a way to do it with or without them, I'd appreciate both recommendations.

Sorry I don't have pics or anything but I have an 80mm fan on my SK6 and it's pretty easy. Just turn the fan 45 degrees so it's a diamond on top of your heatsink. And then use the wires to hug onto the corners of the fan that are sticking out.

People have posted pictures in this forum...don't have link though. It might take a little force to get the wire over the 2nd corner after you get the 1st corner in but just go for it, the wire won't break. =)

Good luck! Btw, I've read discussions saying that an 80mm with the same cfm as a 60mm won't do as well on the SK6 but not sure...I have a Sunon 39cfm fan on mine and the noise is definitely better with little/no increase in temps. 32db is much better than the screamer's 47db. =)

This question must be asked like once a day in this forum.

It is very possible without any modifiation to the motherboard or heatsink.

Hardly looks like a how to link. Where's the how to part?

There's NO need to solder anything to the heatsink to do this.

Get a Zalman case bracket. www.zalmantech.com

There are a couple going on ebay also.

It holds the fan in place from the case but doesn't touch the HS so no vibrating noise. You can also use a bigger fan.

Dude, there is NO need for anything other than your heatsink, the included wires and an 80mm fan.
