Anyone feel like checking my parts list? Mid-high end gaming.

Starting to spec out my build for next week. I'll be replacing my current rig which is an HD5850, i5-750 overclocked to 3.7 and 8 gigs of corsair vengeance.

Rig is for gaming, plan to game at 1080p, dont need more than that. I wont be going for SLI since my planned GPU should be fine for a while, but wouldnt mind the option down the road. My mentality when I go for a build is to get a great all around rig for a reasonable price. I shoot for $1200 max, and I play all typed of games depending on what I'm in the mood for or what I'm curious about, so CPU and GPU power are both important to me. That said, here's what I've got so far. (And I dont have access to a microcenter brick and mortar near me so unfortunately I cant take advantage of the many deals they seem to have)

As for the questions in the sticky:
- I'll OC as much as stock cooling allows. Perhaps next year I'll buy an aftermarket cooler and take it further, but for now it isnt a major concern.

- I'm in the USA

- For obvious reasons, I'm sticking with intel and NVidia this round

- Tasks are the norm. Gaming and the usual web browsing, watching netflix, etc. I also sometimes use my PC as a DAW, but my current rig does this just fine and with the new rig being significantly faster, and adding storage, I have no reason to add any hardware just for this.

Case - Antec 900 $76: http://www.amazon.com/Antec-Nine-Hun...computer+cases

Power Supply - EVGA Bronze 750w $100: http://www.evga.com/Products/Product.aspx?pn=120-PB-0750-KR

CPU: 4670k $235: http://www.amazon.com/Intel-i5-4670K...keywords=4670k

GPU: EVGA GTX 780 $500: http://www.evga.com/Products/Product.aspx?pn=03G-P4-2782-KR

RAM: I'll be reusing my Corsair Vengeance from my old rig to save a few dollars, DDR3 1600. $0

HDD: WD blue 1tb. $60: http://www.amazon.com/WD-Blue-Deskto...rds=hard+drive

Motherboard: ??? I'm open to suggestions. Gigabyte and Asus are my preferred brands. I'd like to keep it to $120 or less, would consider Asrock. But I wont buy from Newegg, prefer to stick with Amazon or directly from the manufacturer.

I have Win 7 ultimate edition that I'll be reusing, as well as my old hard drives which I will slap in the new rig as storage. I dont need an SSD, sure, it cuts down load times but I'd rather have some longer load times and spend the money on a better GPU.

I'll also re-use my DVD drive and (for now) my monitor, mouse and KB, though the monitor will be upgraded to a 1080p later this year and I'll be replacing my G9x at some point in the near future.

Total: $971 without a motherboard. Add on a $120 motherboard and I've got a smokin rig for $1091.

I welcome any critiques, suggestions, and advice on a motherboard. I may end up having to spend a bit more than my planned $120 but I'd like to keep it as close to that as possible.

A few thoughts...

(1) Do not use the Antec 900. It's very, very outdated. The Antec 1100 is a great choice, or similarly-priced cases from Fractal, Corsair, or NZXT.

(2) The Z87-A motherboard suggested above is a good choice, but I'd avoid the TigerDirect bundle.

(3) The EVGA Bronze is overpriced at $100. You can get a Seasonic-built unit for that price, but honestly, you only need 500-600W for your build. The Seasonic G 550W would be perfect for your build and just about any build, frankly. I am not a fan of Corsair's new CS and RM series of PSUs. They are not Seasonic-built, and reviewers are universally finding them to be overpriced for the quality.

(4) You will seriously regret skipping an SSD. Are you interested in 3-minute load times for every map in BF4? Well, that's what you'll get with a Caviar Blue. More and more, SSDs are becoming essential for gaming, not because of the framerate, but because they actually let you play the game when you want to play it.

Overall, you are definitely on the right track. To help you get an SSD in there, I suggest you go for a less expensive case, like the Corsair 230T series, plus the 550W PSU I note above, and maybe grab the Gigabyte GTX 780 that's $490 on newegg right now to save another $10. You really, really should have an SSD, and with quality options like the Crucial M500 and Samsung 840 Evo under $90 for 120GB, there's really no reason not to get one.

One last tip - overclocking really isn't advisable on the stock cooler, but the 4670K is fast enough that you'll rarely be bottlenecked in games.

I said I'd consider ASrock, sorry for any misunderstanding. ASrock, Gigabyte and Asus are the three I'd prefer to stick with.

I appreciate the feedback so far, I'll be tweaking tonight perhaps. Still have a week or so to finalize, and I tend to ponder long and hard before finally pulling the trigger each build.

I'd recommend Gigabyte or Asrock. Stay away from Asus unless you like to pay extra $$$ for a board that has less features and for crappy customer support.

Asus is definitely slightly more expensive for the specs versus Gigabyte and ASRock, but in my experience the build quality is a bit higher, and I've never had trouble with the customer service. I've used motherboards from all three companies. The AsRock Pro 4 would be a great option for this build.

This PSU seems comparable to the Seasonic G 550W, but lower priced at $49.99, after $20 MIR.
Rosewill CAPSTONE-550-M 550W Continuous @ 50°C, Intel Haswell Ready, 80 PLUS GOLD, ATX12V v2.31 & EPS12V v2.92, SLI/CrossFire Ready, Modular Active PFC Power Supply

The Corsair PSU mentioned earlier includes the latest ATX 12V v2.4, while most other PSU's have the older 12V v2.31 specification. Not sure of the difference...

I like both Asus and Gigabyte quite a bit, and while I feel like Asus charges a bit of a premium, I have loved every product of theirs I've ever used. I've also had great experience with Gigabyte boards, but never owned an Asrock, so in considering them I'm only basing it on the good feedback I see on forums.

Appreciate the case suggestions, looks like I might be going with that Corsair and also switching up the PSU.

Mid level asrock z87s will really allow you to push that ram of yours besides the options of 1 click Overclocking profiles. They have various z87s to meet your requirements and are a hell of a bang for buck board. They do have that "asus"ness to them meaning, if the boards going to be problematic, it's going to really get under your skin. From my own personal builds using asrock from z68,77 and 87 I've been very happy with their performance for the money. My only real gripe is, they don't tend to releas a lot of bios after the board comes out. However with the components you have selected , you will be good to go.

About the psu, I'd recommend a seasonic like which was recommend already. If you have any issues with an asrock during your build I'd be more than happy to help you out. Other than that you will have a solid build.

I am considering building my own PC and would very much appreciate advise and build lists. I have no previous experience with this endeavor. I would need it for school and gaming. I have to have WiFi. I am hoping to spend less than $1200. I am @ the point that my head is spinning from looking online for options! Can some knowledgable and experienced person please help me?

Sure! It would be best if you started your own thread and answered these questions. Knowing what you are going to do with your machine will help those who help you!
