It should work for all 4870's since they are all currently reference design. Not a drama if it doesn't work.....can always flash it back to stock :).

When asked for some simple screenshots of CCC and CPUz, the author got a little defensive and blurted

As for pictures, I really have nothing to prove and could care less, use it if you want, if not don't.

I'm wondering what's so hard about taking some screenshots? I'm betting he didn't try jackshit himself, but wanted others to try the Bios first. Seriously you'd need to be STUPIDLY curious to flash this Bios if you know you can't return your card for whatever reason to the retail store.

Its not the overclocking capabilities of the BIOS that I'm really interested, its the fan/powerplay fixes, if any.

I can't run Linux on my desktop right now because the 4870 fan slows down to almost zip, idling at 78C. I don't dare let it run at those temps for very long. I've been wrestling with RMAing to Newegg and getting a replacement with updated BIOS firmware or buying an aftermarket cooling when the Twin Turbo arrives.

Mine's idling at 82C... I don't really mind :) Though I do have like 30C at home right now :p Summer's stupidly hot this year.

Though if there's a BIOS that lowers the clocks at idle and stuff and it's verified to work, I wouldn't mind using it, just for the sake of having a lower temp (can't go low enough with it).

Flashed my Sapphire HD4870 with this new Asus bios. Works fine.

Has higher default clocks and improved fan settings. Neither makes any difference to me since I am using aftermarket cooling, and use AMD Gpu Clock Tool for setting my GPU/MEM speeds, in 2D and 3DHP.

I'd be more impressed if an HD4870 bios came out with proper (ie....lower) 2D GPU/MEM clocks and voltages, that actually functions with PowerPlay...

You mean you don't trust a guy who has posted a whopping 19 times to reprogram your $300 piece of hardware? Pussies. ;)

LOL there are times that my room gets up to 32C! luckily for me it has been under 30C lately.

Just take a copy of your own bios, edit it with bioseditor to adjust clock speeds idle and load and vcore then ajust the fan profile so you get the fanspeed you like and flash it.

Took me 1 min on 4850 and it's nice to idle at 200/500 speeds and 3d speeds of 740/1100. I set my fan curve to 60c min - 90c max because I don't want the fan to ever rev up.

i think a better question is "who has water cooling uber enough to need to a bios to increase his max oc"
