when I'm dancing around my opponent effortlessly, I feel kind of bad for the guy/girl on the other end of the connection. It's a real person im handing out a can of whoopass on Can't be good for their confidence

Sometimes briefly. But that usually changes to laughter pretty quickly. If you can't run with the big dogs, stay on the porch.

I know how intensely frustrating it is to have a well-organized team tap-dancing on your face so I feel a bit bad about utterly crushing an opponent in the same way... maaayyybe even give them a break by shooting another opponent or giving them a few seconds to regroup, etc.

Not really because I am usually on the losing end hehe

But then I find people get really pissed if you manage to turn the tide. The nasty messages, emails, and emo-rage quits. Or they put a spy on your side and try to sabotage your good fortune. Gotta love that one.

I am telling you gaming can be very stressful! So I have cut back on my gaming and enjoy life more haha.

In DM or something where it's every man for himself then no.

However in team orientated games where one team is getting trounced because they're just unlucky enough to get all the bad players and the good players stack that kind of gets on nerves, I feel sorry for the team getting pummeled and I get bored with it being easy.

One of the things that has not seen any real progress in multiplayer gaming in a long time is online balance, awful games like that should never exist, people should be in approximately equal fights with equal odds and the matches ideally should be very close wins, they're always the best.

I can't recall ever feeling sorry for an opponent in any competition other than poker.
The reason for that is in poker someone can outplay you and still lose horribly to you. In other competitions generally people win because they are better, and I never fault them for that nor do I feel bad for being the better party.

yeah, i do, when they are pathetic .. which is something that happens too often, specially in Free2Play, or any game on Steam with mass appeal.

I swear there was a guy once who came into our private server in QuakeLive, totally nab - just downloaded the game - who played with a controller.

Not only he was horribly bad, but he thought he's do the same thing he does in CoD .. he started insulting people. We'd say "hey, you are new .. this is a high difficulty server, can you please go play free-for-all, you can learn there" and he's start spewing a river of obscenities, including calling noob people who've played the game for 18 years.

Anyway, yeah i do feel bad for them. Sometimes i get people into a server and try to teach them some stuff, but most don't want to put up with the intricacies of skilled FPS play. (not that im great, but i got some experience)
Kids just want simple fun, really, they dont want hardcore difficulty stuff.

Also, most importantly, when i play these terribad players, i feel my skill going down; i try a lot less, because i know i'm gonna win even if i dont try. That's my cue to change server, and go find an opponent who is at my level.

No normally not (I often feel satisfied), but I thought it was funny when I had a triple hattrick (6 goals) in a single match against 2 pros and and a semi-pro vs me (pro and 2 rookies) beating them 11-1.

On an individual level not so much, but like Max said above if my team is just wrecking the opposing one I do feel bad. I know no one over there is having fun.

I know what it feels like to get wrecked , so when I deliver my own wreckage I try to do so with a gentle hand and a loving heart. That is to say, I will not let up until they leave the server. Screw it. I'll empty that server out if they can't take the heat. What's fair is fair. When I get owned no one gives me a damn hug afterwards. I will issue the wreckage until they leave if necessary.
Its the worst when someone is passionate and tries hard, but they just get wrecked anyway. I have been on team speak with people and talking casually to them WHILE I was wrecking them. This pissed them off as I heard them talking to me and trying to sound normal, but I could almost hear the cursing from under their breath. There would be pauses in their sentences with odd breathing in between. This is when they were thinking to themselves, "Die Bogg, you piece of S#**"

I'll be talking to them on TeamSpeak and I'm like, "Damn this is a good cup of coffee ::BOOM HEADSHOT:: I just made. Brb though. I need some ::BOOM HEADSHOT:: more creamer"

Nice braggart thread BTW. This lets us braggarts brag it up.

No. It's a game. I've been on both ends of it. I don't cry when I suck. I don't cry when I don't. :)

never.

I'm a loser and a pussy.

Killing others online makes me feel good about myself.
I never gloat.
Dont need to.
I get a warm fuzzy when they lash out at me.

Normally not, but I have felt bad in mmo's when you play against a not unskilled opponent but they are playing a much weaker class vs a fotm class.

I remember one time playing TOR on my Vanguard against a Jugg. Poor guy I had him more of less perma slowed so he couldn't really get in melee range to put up any damage. I knew exactly what abilities he could use to use but I knew exactly how to counter them having a Jugg main myself. At the time Vanguards had superior range, burst, sustained, mobility, and a comparable defensive suite. He must have been really ticked off because he spent the whole match after that first encounter trying to kill me but never got close. I could sympathize with the frustration he must have felt.
