...or just NASA internships in general?

A younger relative of mine applied for one and is itching to find out more. Are they seasonal or year round? What are the benefits like?

Thanks everyone!

All of that information should (hopefully) have been made available in the vacancy announcement. Pathways is still in its infancy (though in many ways it will probably resemble the FCIP), so I'm not sure you'll be able to find any former Pathways interns to answer your questions.

FCIP??

Federal Career Intern Program. It no longer exists, but Pathways is intended to be its replacement.

Is your relative still in school and planning on continuing his education after spending some time at the internship? If that is the case, his position is probably more like those advertised through the Student Career Experience Program (SCEP). I honestly don't know if the Pathways program also replaced SCEP or if it's just intended to provide jobs for those who are looking for a career entry program after they've graduated.

In any case, the vacancy should have listed the details about the position's duration. Since Pathways is new and I don't work for NASA, I can't really provide any insider information. Hopefully there's also an HR person with a phone number listed somewhere on the vacancy announcement that he could contact.

Thanks for the reply.

He's still in school. Good kid. 3.5 GPA (business major).

If your relative is a white guy, don't expect to hear back from NASA.
