Anyone familiar with PNY's GTX 670? (VCGGTX670XPB)

Looking for a new GPU, thinking one of the 670's. Newegg has the PNY version for 320 after MIR.. pretty solid price compared to other 670's. Now obviously this one isn't as highly clocked as some of the more expensive cards, but seems like a pretty good price. Only found a single review, that seemed to be pretty favorable (low noise/temps, good performance) but I'm not sold on a single review. Also, PNY as a graphics card producer? Just looking to see if anyone has any experience with this card or PNY GPUs?

This PNY model is basically just a reference model with a decorative covering on the heatsink shroud. It should function like most reference 670 models, which is to say it probably won't overclock extraordinarily well, and it will be somewhat loud, particularly at idle.

This is the same cooler used on multiple Nvidia reference cards, starting with the 670, but also the 660Ti, the 660, and now the 650Ti Boost, and all reviews have mentioned a similar issue - an audible grinding noise at idle. If you are looking for the quietest solution at idle, this isn't going to be it.

I owned two EVGA 670 models based on this design, and they were both equally loud at idle. They're pretty loud at load as well, but many cards are, including most blower-style cards.

All that being said, for $320, the performance will be nearly unbeatable when comparing stock-clocked cards, as long as you're willing to wait on a big rebate. It most definitely is not worth $370.

Also, as a heads up, I'd just caution you that it would be quite bottlenecked in your current rig (q6600@3.0), but perhaps you're doing a complete system upgrade.

Thanks for the link, had it on the clipboard and must have completely forgotten to paste it. Also appreciate your insight, I think you've convinced me to hold off. Seemed like a pretty good deal on a reference card (which it is) and the sound isn't a huge deal breaker for me. That said, I am building a complete new system (i5-3570k which I may or may not OC a bit in a msi Z77A-GD55, etc.) and probably won't physically put it together until the end of April/first week of May so I think I might just sit tight and see what happens with prices.

Tigerdirect has a non ref. Galaxy card for 340 after rebate. Might give it a shot.

I got the PNY around Christmas when newegg had a pretty massive sale on them and I am ver impressed. I might not be the best person to go by, since I upgraded from a 4890, but my i7-920/670 Machine runs everything on max settings@1080p so far this year.

I can't believe 670s haven't gone on sale yet. When the hell is that happening? Been waiting to pick up a second one for a while now.

I bought an EVGA GTX 670 FTW 2GB off ebay for $256, and then immediately sold my EVGA 660 FTW for $200...basically made a $180 upgrade for $50. The 670 FTW is the best 70 out of the box that you can buy IMO

PNY is a legit dealer and in fact they are the only brand for some of Nvidia's professional graphics cards. I would not hesitate to buy if you haven't heard of PNY. They are an old company... I think my first upgrade ever was with PNY DRAM, boosting my memory from 2MB to 4MB or something crazy like that.
