Anyone familiar with Omni Hotels?

I earned black status somehow last year (through some promotion... I didn't stay much, but they gave it to me). It's their highest status and apparently has a ton of benefits. Normally I just use Hotwire.

Some of their hotels are really nice, and I figure... I should take advantage of this before it expires at the end of this year. Has anyone spent any time at any Omni Resorts throughout the country? Any that you recommend? Thanks!

I stayed at the Omni in Orlando. Very nice and classy hotel. It was mostly business people when I stayed there (not sure if it's like that all the time).

I'm willing to bet Omni's are typically $150+ per night ($250+ depending on the area).

Personally, I try to stick to < $100 while still staying half-decent. I tend to stick it out for Marriott. They have decent rooms at decent prices. Plus I got a decent employer discount code, and they gave me platinum benefits for free the first year. Don't get me wrong though, I love Starwoods as well - I'm just trying to accrue all my hotel points under one room instead of spreading it out.

Oh I agree. I'll go back to Hotwire after this year, but figured I'd enjoy the black benefits for a bit! At least a few times. Or is that irrational? I guess I can probably get what the black benefits get me spending $50... :p

Honestly, most of the loyalty rewards do is just give you extra points when you stay with them. It's nothing that amazing.

Also, I will NEVER go with hotwire/travelocity/<insert stupid discount site> as long as I'm in the states and there is a marriott nearby. Learned my lesson there. Their prices are often not better (try going to the official website), and sometimes more.

my trick with the marriot (or marriot owned hotel) when i went to vegas and stayed at the cosmo was to book it on the marriot website. it was retarded expensive on there.

then i found a much cheaper deal, by like $500 or $600, on lasvegas.com i think, and then i pm'ed them.

they match the price then give you like 25% of the difference or something, so i ended up getting a pretty cheap room considering where i was staying.

Wait - How did you use it? I'm a bit confused.

Book a Marriott room using any Marriott reservation channel (Marriott.com, Marriott Hotel Telephone Reservations, or directly at a hotel).
If within 24 hours of making your reservation, you find a lower hotel rate for the same hotel, room type and reservation dates, and submit a qualified claim form, we’ll match the rate + give you an extra 25% discount on the room.

Unless you booked your Marriott the night before, and then magically overnight the price changed by $500, how did you get it to PM?
According to the statement.
1) They will only "Price Match" the SAME hotel and SAME Room if the price changes
2) They will only do so if it is "within 24 hours of making the reservation".

we should measure his toenails at some point.

3.15" at last measure. I mark the growth on the wall like when a kid is growing up, just horizontally rather than vertically.

As someone who works in the hotel industry, that totally depends on:

A) Type of hotel (focus, full, extended, motel)
B) Location (city, downtown, suburbs, highway hotel, attraction, other)
C) Demand (will impact whether or not you get LV1-LV9 for your rate level)

Generally, a full service like an Omni is probably $150 for LV1, but will really depend if it's a downtown location or an off the beaten path. The Omni Dallas Downtown will be a lot more expensive than the Omni Las Colinas/Irving given location alone, not to mention the conventions, etc that are popular in downtown. In your scenario, you probably are more geared towards the focus service.

Stayed in an Omni in Austin about $200/night. Nicest hotel I've been in. After I get hitched this weekend we're staying in the Dallas Omni until we fly out for honeymoon.

Very nice hotel chain.

as soon as i booked it on marriot.com, i linked them to the better deal and provided the room prices. it doesn't say anything about the price changing. you just have to show them a better price for the same room type.

i actually just found the old email.

before tax, through marriot.com, it was about $1450. after the PM, it was $741.

big time difference lol.
