You can set the volume buttons to adjust volume on any of your devices. I have mine set to always adjust my pre-pro. Is that what you mean?

Volume of what device? Television? Be more descriptive.

I don't own one, but some of the models are highly programmable.

Yeah. I want it to use it for TV volume/muting without having to switch devices.

Have you set it up already and it's not working the way you want?

Sounds like you just need to set it up so that for every activity, the volume buttons are associated with the TV. That should be no issue to set up.

EDIT: At least on the 880, I'm not actually sure how similar the setup is on the other ones, but from what I understand, it's pretty similar.

I've already set it (676) to control 4 devices (DVD x 2, VCR, TV). Problem is I haven't figured how to get the volume and mute buttons to work with all devices which makes it very clunky for use. When I was setting it up originally, I was getting very frustrated because the setup kept producing errors so I never messed with it since.

It's been a while since I've tried to mess with the Harmony site so I'm not sure how it's set up now, but you should definitely be able to set it up how you want it with a really simple system like that.

What do you want to control the volume? The Tv? I have the 360 version and in mine theres a setting where it says what controls the volume for every activity.

I start here and then click Customize Buttons (Text) and update the remote, but it still doesn't work (Device>DVD>Volume/Mute do nothing).

And another thing is DVD 2 doesn't appear when I hit Device, but I can select it by hitting the third button.

I think I got it. I was using Device select to shuffle between devices instead of programming the activity buttons on top. So far everything works fine the new way.

Glad you figured it out. I went through several remotes (including expensive ones like the Phillips Pronto) before settling on the Harmony 659. I love this remote and its dead simple to get everything working the way I want.
