Been thinking of moving away from Network Ops/Design and NA seemed interesting from what I read by Cisco.
Every posting I see on Indeed or other job search engines must have it somewhere in the task/duties section as drilling down only finds 3 posting with NA in the title.
Its that or Security (shudder), and I know which would bore me to death first.
Anyone know or ever even met anyone from the Network-side of things doing Network Automation.
Adjacent jobs all seem to revolve around some form of DevOps.

But see, security is fairly easy if you are on the side that is making the rules, as you simply say "no, prove to me what you want to do is secure". That said it is a paperwork nightmare.

DevSecOps is probably a better spot as automation is a key factor in making everything work and do it "properly" while following local security rules, and probably is where most companies are now calling this kind of position for network automation.

LOL, every place I've worked (F500 mainly), Security has been sort of their own mini-department within IT/Networking. And it is exactly as you descibed, "NO, or prove its secure"....
I guess its best to get an actual Security cert while I'm getting deeper into Python then. Cisco, PA, Juniper, does it really matter?

Depends on where you are going to work and the sector. If it will be for government, you will need either a CompTIA Security+ CE cert or a CISSP cert (depending on if you are just going to be an admin level or be an architect respectively). Just about everyone will also recognize the CISSP, and probably have similar requirements on any of their higher level security staff to have that cert.

Almost every company will at least recognize the Cisco certs, but really, if they don't use the products, they don't really need people who have the cert (the same with Juniper). I wouldn't worry as much on those unless you know already where you are targeting for working and if they use those particular products or not.
