Anyone "fall" for a girl you know you can't have?

It really really sucks :(

Basically in one of my classes, there's this cute chick who sits near me. We talked a little bit on Monday after asking her to join a group with me, and yesterday I managed to have a good conversation with her for about 20 minutes straight. (I'm shy but we seemed to click) I asked her if she wanted to go out sometime, she said yea, everything was great......until last night - she called me up and said she was already in a relationship but didn't want to tell me when I asked b/c it might hurt my feelings, wouldn't mind keeping our lunch date as "friends"

Anyway flash foward to today...we went out to lunch....conversation flowed pretty well....made her laugh a lot....learned a lot about each other....it was so great being in her company but after I walked her to her class my "high" seemed to come crashing down....I guess I realize that it sucks not being able to have the girl you really want.....shes perfect in like every way.....great to hang out with and be around.....just has a personality that sucks you in and makes you be a better person.

Anyway I know I"ll probably get flamed for being such a pathetic loser for feeling depressed about a girl who I knew beforehand was gonna go out with me as a friend...just wanted to get it off my chest

<--- feels depressed :(

well, perhaps you can enter the 'friend zone' and use her to meet other chicks.

I think as they get older, just about every man will experience this. It's not fun. It's just one of those things thats going to happen. Just keep looking and move on to the next one.

Yea I suppose. I'll remain friends with her but it's going to suck hanging out with her realizing I'm doing it just as a friend.

Good advice. Things that we can't have are also more desirable.

I got to know a woman a few years ago, and she and I really "clicked". Nothing happened because she was married. I moved halfway across the country about a year ago and lost touch with her. A few weeks ago I was walking through the gym and saw her! She was in town for some job related training, but lives only two hours away now. I found out that she's getting divorced (I drive her to the airport tommorow to fly to the state she was married in) and we started dating. I say go for it, keep it up. Eventually she may break up with her current b/f and BAM! you're in there. If nothing else you'll have a good friend.

You pathetic loser! Where's the pics?!?!?!

j/k. I'm sure we've all been there. Even worse than wanting what you can't have, is "the one that got away". I'll leave it at that without getting in to sappy details. :(

move on. if her bf gets the idea that his gf's new guy friend has a thing for her, it could really mess up the whole situation for everyone.

if you are as shy as you say you are, then just take this experience as a boost of confidence and go find a new girl.

Even worse when your best friend ends up going out with her.

Heck yeah. Happened to me. :(

Cant tell either of them how you feel because either way you can ruin your friendship, no one else to talk to about it because hes the one you always talk to about stuff like this. They BOTH ask you why you seem so down, and they know you arent telling the truth when you make up excuses. Bad bad situation.
