The pixels are dying! The pixels are dying!

Wow, I have to say I've never in my life seen that happen. My first obvious question is.. what did you do?
 
It's my associate's laptop. He says "nothing" has happened to it. He's currently off-site with the laptop so I'm waiting for him to come in so I can take a look at it.
 
Can you be more specific as to what's going on with the screen? Is the whole display gone or just one or two pixels or a whole row of them gone?
