anyone experience with scanning transparancies?

i know this is possible somehow but does anyone have experience with scanning transparancies?

primary use would be scanning xrays for a doctor's office.

just seems logical that one should be able to do it be i've never come across one yet. i guess it's a niche market for scanner producers.

so you believe it's a software based issue?

i hard you needed an additional accessory. but both software and hardware makes sense.

At the very least you would need a transparency adapter.

Two issues come to mind:

1. The size of the Xrays ... the "classic" size (back when I did my training ) will be too large for almost any commercially available scanner + transparency adapter. The newer, smaller size used in some hospitals may fit OK.

2. I would be *very* concerned about the resolution with regards to detecting small defects. This is why it took so long for computer monitors to make it into the radiology suites. At our facility we take regular films and then they are digitalized and put on a central server. We can view them in the ICUs and ER via big ultra-high resolution CRT monitors....but I virtually never make an important decision based on the digital and our radiologists still read all films.
