Essentially a modern update to the Super Metroid formula with a story influenced or written by(?) Orson Scott Card. A 2D game using the Unreal Engine. All the models & physics are done 3 dimensionally. TBH I'm waiting on this more than Modern Warfare 2, Bioshock 2, etc. Play magazine's July cover story. Developed by Chair Entertainment which is owned by Epic.

Is anyone else excited about this one?

IGN Linky

Shadow Complex is set in the compelling universe of Empire, Orson Scott Card's best-selling novel outside of the famed Ender's Game series. The game provides a fresh twist on classic side-scroller action by delivering an original single-player adventure that unfolds across a range of non-linear levels. Gameplay centers around exploration and fast-paced combat as players gather power-ups to overcome obstacles, thwart enemies, and delve into a mysterious and challenging world.

Yes, provided the bosses don't randomly disappear and leave you hanging in mid-air.

lol? Was this a problem with Super Metroid or something?

No, when they were demoing Shadow Complex at Microsoft's E3 press conference this happened and then they quickly ended their presentation.

Well that sucks. Hope they get everything sorted out before release. Considering it's going to be an Epic game I would think it'll be straitened out by then.

Game based on the Ender's Game universe with a Metroid type style? Sounds like a winner to me, but I'll wait for reviews or at least try a demo.

It's not in the Ender's Game universe. The article says Empire is his "best-selling novel outside of the famed Ender's Game series" (emphasis mine.)

That would be really sad (Empire is terrible), if his other non-Ender books weren't even worse. What really would be sad is if Empire actually sold well.

Only book I've read from Card was Ender's Game (1st one) & I thought it was great albeit really short. I'm surprised he made a long standing series out of it. On a video I saw for the game it showed a few cut scenes that had me grumbling... one of the best aspects of 2d games is really the lack of bullshit. You just pick them up, play them & get the story as you go.

I'm all for 2D Super Metroid like games.

For Ender's Game, the other books in the series really didn't interest me. Long winded and boring.

Gotcha, I did indeed misread that

BTW when is this thing getting released?

The official thing I heard was August 31st, but I also read somewhere Fall '09 by Cliff (of Epic) himself. Frankly I don't want this thing shipping unless 99 % of the bugs are sorted out, but I would like sooner rather than later.
