Anyone every apply for an FBI job?

I'm looking at the application, but I don't see a GPA requirement. Is there one? I'm a computer science major graduating in Spring, but my GPA isn't too great. Do they look at it?

The best you'll get without a professional degree (JD, PhD, graduate accounting, or biology MS or real, serious non-police-officer law enforcement experience) is an administrative position. You NEED either a high-level degree or federal law enforcement experience to think about getting a position as a special agent.

They give you a polygraph test as part of the screening process. Someone I knew flunked because she choked when they asked if she had ever smoked marijuana. She wasn't a stoner by any means, she was smart and hard working, but she had tried marijuana in the past. She lied and said she hadn't.

Do you know what the minimum GPA requirement is?

There's no real minimum - they take a comprehensive look at your qualifications. Submit a resume and they'll get back to you if they are interested in you. It's important to start the process now if you want a job around your graduation - security clearance will take several months.

What a way to flunk, I would have answered honestly "I did not inhale ..." 😉

There's more to the FBI than being a special agent.

But nothing as prestigious. 🙂

No GPA requirements, they look at the over all picture. On their website, they have listed 6 kind of people they really need, and the requirements for them. But don't think that GPA is just tossed aside, I am sure it matters a lot.

I applied 5 months ago, already passed the first test, and now in running for the second interview.

isnt the pay for special agents pretty crappy?

u start at GS10, which is roughly $50,000 per year

its not the pay you wanna look at, but the fact that the "good ol' boy" system that is set up for you afterwords. Any private security job you want basically is yours for the taking after you get out.

The application is not even getting your foot in the door. Once they get it, and they think you're worthy of an interview, the background checks start. They research your entire life and that of your parents and relatives. Then come the interviews and polygraph tests. I don't speak from experience, but I have three friends who have interviewed with the CIA. During all that, you have to keep stuff on the down-low.

While I don't find the FBI too appealing, I'll probably look into the CIA and NSA.
