Anyone ever work on an electric clothes dryer?

I've got a dryer that will run about 20 minutes, until it gets hot and then it shuts off. Let it sit for half an hour an it starts back up. Any ideas what's wrong?

First thing, check the venting. If it's clogged/restricted, the dryer will overheat and shut off after a while.

I worked on one. I sat on it while putting together a light assembly in the basement

That sounds dangerous - sounds like the dryer _might_ be overheating, and its safety circuit is shutting it down.

Could be a couple of things. Check the low and high thermostat. See, with a Ohm gauge, if one is open/closed. That is usually the problem for a dryer getting to hot. But could also be the timer, switch, etc..
