Anyone ever used the Samsung SH-I300 sprintpcs phone? It looks like this is the first palm phone I would enjoy

I got an IPAQ when they first came out because I thought I would use it for mp3's, movies, and internet stuff. Although I still use it a lot as a PIM, keeping track of purchases and stuff, and reading avantgo and ebooks, I just don't really NEED it like I thought I would. I do love the device, but carrying that and my cell phone gets to be a burden even with big pockets. Now my screen is messed up again, it's giving me the flipped image problem that I had a long time ago. Since Best Buy was kind enough to sell me a 4 year warranty on it, I think i will take advantage of it. The thing is, the sell the 3750 ipaq which is just like mine, but with 64 megs. No real improvements. They also sell the Samsung SH-I300 which is the first phone with a palm device integrated, unlike the Kyoceras and Qualcomm's that were still the size of Palm Pilots, but with a handset integrated into. This thing is a really good size, larger than my Motorla Timeport, a little longer and wider, but thinner. It's much smaller than some of the phones I've used and carried in the past. This thing is still running Palm OS, but allegedly it's upgradeable and it is also a color screen which I'm a big fan of. Anyone think I should go with this. It is really cool. Has anyone else seen something like this that might have more features. I want an actual phone, not the earbud and microphone addon that they make for handsprings and pocket pcs. Does anyone think I should get this? The geek factor would be absolutely amazing. I am on the job hunt, and in interviews when you pull something like that out (I had a 20 minute conversation with my last employer on my ipaq before he hired me) it's a good way to get them to remember and notice you (on top of your merit and qualifications).

Oops, I just answered my own question. IT's not upgradeable to the 3G network services Sprint is anticipating for next year. Forget that then. I'd still like opiniopns on anyone who has used it.

I've been following the I300 for months and I actually got mine on Friday (part Christmas gift :)).

Although I have not activated it as my phone (gonna wait a week to get familiar with it), I must say that it truly rocks. I had a WinCE device that konked out on me a year ago. So, after a year, I've jumped to Palm. There are a few known issues/inconveniences such as not having a password lock on the device and you can set the phone ringer to vibrate, but not the Palm-side (alarms, etc.). However, I fully expect anything major to be eventually worked out. It comes with two batteries, so I don't forsee any problems if I recharge overnight. Iam looking into an additial travel charger and data cable, so that I can sync up with my home and work desktops. The kicker would have been an expansion slot to handle more memory or other devices such as an MP3 player.

The word on the street is that a color version of the Kyocera 6035 (B&W can be had for $150 or less at Office Depot) is on the way. Microsoft also announced PocketPC 2002-based phones last week at CES. I don't know if they will be worth the wait, tho.

Cool, exactly the type of sites I was looking for. Let me know once you activate it if it works well for you. I'm particularly curious if the battery will last all day using it as a pda and phone.

treo, much nicer, the i300 has a 256 color screen that washes out easier. The treo black and white is good, and the color version is coming out soon. + Treo has 16mb of RAM
