Anyone ever used the computer program Starry Night?

Wow, seems a little steep for $179. Starry night cd came with the book for my astronomy class. I however, never bought the book. Only thing people really used it for was cheating on their observing logs.. =/ In the meantime, try www.heavens-above.com

Wow... Starry night cd came with my astronomy book as well... I never installed it. Didn't realize it was a $179 program.

I have an OOOOLLLLLDDDD DOS program called "EZCosmos" that probably does the same thing, only not as elegantly I'm sure. You could put in most major locations and it'd plot a star chart for that area (big cities, Toledo, Ohio wasn't in the database). You could use the mouse to click on stars/planets and get info.

It's something my Dad and I used to play around with, no idea what it cost originally. I'm sure it wasn't $180.

They might still be making it, perhaps there's a windows version I don't know about.

My astronomy teacher used that program for studying stars. It's a pretty nice program with a lot of features. It really depends on what you want to use it for. It you are going to use it a lot, then it a great program, but if you are only going to use it for a class, then it is not really worth having it.
