My Samsung i330 has been getting really crappy reception lately, and battery life is shot. Anything I need to know before I call them tomorrow to get a new phone?

Nope. Just pay the $35.

EDIT: You'll get a comparable phone. I kinda doubt they have a stock of I330's, but I could be wrong.

Comparable could be a good thing since the i330 is a Palm OS phone and the new Sprint PalmOS phones are sweet.

Yeah, you'll either get a refurbished I330 or a comparable phone. Not sure if the i500 is considered comparable.

Call the number, explain why, pay the $35 with your credit card.
They'll ship you another refurb I330. You put your broken I330 in the box, drop it in the supplied envelope and ship it back.
I think the envelope has a prepaid shipping label.

Keep in mind they aren't the best at this. The first time I needed my phone replaced it took them 3 tries.
Try #1: Shipped me a I330 with a screen problem
Try #2: Shipped me a I300
Try #3: Got it right.

If you break it again they cancel your plan for a year.

Edit: You may get an I500 but odds are at best so-so.

This sucks...I just pulled out my updated service agreement and noticed that the replacement fee has gone up to $50 from $35...

The only reason I've been staying with Sprint is this phone, I wonder if there's any phones like it for Verizon...maybe if I threaten to leave they'll offer me an i500.

They upped the price this summer. The replacement plan is crap, i wish sprint would die.

Just got back with a brand new Samsung i500...they were going to give me a refurb but couldn't locate the cradle for one so I got a brand-new-in box i500 instead. The only feature it doesn't have that my old one did is speakerphone...I'll miss that, but this phone still rocks.

Oh, and they only charged me $10. I misread the terms, it's $10 for mechanical and electrical failures due to defect, and $50 for loss, accidental damage, etc.

If you're going to replace a Sprint phone using the $4/month insurance, DEFINITELY take it to a sprint store to do it instead of calling Lockline. The new terms state that they have to give you a replacement phone. And bantering with the staff doesn't hurt either, I was in there for over an hour but we had a good time.

I didn't buy one when I had a phone. It was $4/mo and a $xx deductible when they offered it to me ( thought $75 but maybe it was $71 for the year in costs if I had to use it). Since the phone came w/ a 1yr warranty anyway, and I could switch providers and get a new phone afterwards it didn't make sense.

Might be worth spending the $50 and selling on ebay, then switching to a new provider afterwards.

Nice. I don't carry lockline since I've never lost a phone or broken one. I did buy an ESP from bb tho;) Only $40 so in the long run its cheaper then Sprint's ERP.

Neither have I, the i330 broke all on its own.

How long is your ESP for?

psh. I just buy from Costco. Membership benefits will allow you to return the phone with any sort of damage short of actually losing the damn thing. I've traded in my phone 4 times in about a year already.

Damn, I didn't even know you could do that. Have to keep that in mind when this one breaks.
