Anyone ever used Onkyo HTIB?

Found this at local craigslist, listed for $350. I'm thinking of buying it, selling the receiver, (I'm looking at an SR606 refurb) and then using the speakers. I'm moving into an apartment next year, so the speakers should be substantial, and reviews on then are decent.

The receiver doesn't do HDMI audio, and only has 2 HDMI inputs, which isn't enough for me, but I could probably sell it locally and turn a decent profit towards the 606.

Any thoughts?

I have used this set, a solid buy at $350 (It wasn't much more new), but it seems like you are making things more complicated than they need to be? What is your budget? Do you really have a buyer for the receiver? Just curious.

Haha, it's possible I'm making this more complicated than I need to. I should probably just buy the receiver I want and build a system piece by piece.

My thought was that if this speaker set was decent, it was easier (and potentially cheaper) to buy this set, try to sell the receiver, and be left with a decent 7.1 speaker system to use with the 606.

I have the set and the speakers are fine but it would just be easier to buy everything you want straight out.

I got it for $397 new so his price is pretty bad.

if you just need a basic speaker setup for an apartment, I would put money that the parts express dayton speaker set with an 8 or 10" sub would be more than sufficent,

http://www.parts-express.com/p...cfm?Partnumber=300-692

if you really need 7.1 over 5.1 you can get an extra pair of sats for 36.27

http://www.parts-express.com/p...cfm?Partnumber=300-670

that will set you back about 200-250 depending on what sub you go with (can get the speaker kit with a dayton 8,10 or 12 which are all very solid subs for the money)

I have the HT-S6100. Nothing but praise for the system. Never realized how much I was missing without surround sound. I write this as someone with little experience into other home theater systems.

I'm in the exact same situation. Bought the HT-S6100 as my first real surround sound system. Love it.

Gotta love Newegg -- no tax or shipping -- something I couldn't find anywhere else! (not even amazon as they charge tax in NY) Got a great price on it on sale too
