there's a pretty big difference between their ground and next day services. their next day services are ok, but NEVER use their ground service. In all likelyhood, since you ordered from outpost, they'll need your signature

outpost doesn't require signature. DHL/airborne lost a package the wife bought for me. DHL told me the driver left the package next to the front gate, which is right next to the sidewalk, in plain view, and 70-80 feet from the front door to my house. had the lazy bastard bother to walk up to my door and ring the door bell, the package wouldn't be lost because he would have left it by the door, like UPS, FEDEX, or USPS. I called DHL and got Outpost to agree to refund the wife's CC. but they never did and she called Discover to dispute the amount. A month later Fry's legal dept. email her, saying Outpost shipped the package and Discover never paid. We told him to go fvck off and ask DHL for the money since they lost the package. Its been several weeks since and we haven't heard back. anyways, thats my rant of outpost/airborne. I don't think they have any grounds to ask me to pay. good luck with you and hope this doesn't happen to you.

I shipped a 34 pound oversized boxed item at OfficeMax using Airborne Express. UPS wanted $120 for ground and the USPS wanted $86 for Parcel Post. At office max it cost me $12.40 for gound shipping. Office max had a 50% off shipping that weekend. DHL (AirborneExpress) had told me it would be $46 through OfficeMax. :)

I had my first experience with DHL today. I bought a pair of boots from a guy in Canada and he shipped them using Purolator. Apparently Purolator uses DHL to move packages around once they get to the U.S. Somewhere along the way the destination address got messed up (don't know whose fault that was) so I contacted DHL to pick up the package. Their customer service was friendly and helpful.

Purolator is pretty crappy though. Their online tracking takes hours to update and 2 out of 3 customer service agents I talked to were completely unhelpful.

But yeah, Fedex Ground is the best for ground shipments in my opinion.

In my experience, they tend to leave ground and 2nd day air packages at your door without ever ringing your doorbell.

Fedex Home also leaves packages at your door if you don't pay an extra $2 for signature. The signature used to be free, but they dont include that in the shipping quote/price now.

I, for one, use DHL at least once or twice a week, and I've yet to have any problem with their service... they've been faster, more reliable, and more friendly than Fedex, UPS, or USPS, in my experience.

Next to DHL, I use Fedex. You'd have to tie me down before I'd send something out via UPS or USPS that wasn't prepaid.
