Anyone ever used a Bed Cooling Device?

Getting kinda sick of always sweating in bed at night.

Anyone ever used some type of device - mattress pad or something that cools the bed? Cranking up the A/C can only work so much.

Stuff like this looks appealing to me, but wanted to see if anyone else here had other solutions: https://www.amazon.com/Mattress-Coo...ords=water+mattress+pad&qid=1571423935&sr=8-7

The key is to not get cozy. Do not fall asleep warm. Be slightly cold with only a sheet. Keep your AC at a temp that makes this possible. No blankets.

I know it sucks, but the only way to not wake up sweaty for people like us is to be cool/cold.

Doh - Wrong forum seciton. I guess I'm going to have to somehow turn this into an argument on if this device is necessary or not :p

Sleeping without a blanket (hell even a comforter with just a sheet) is just... so uncomfortable. I get what you're saying though - is that something you get used to overtime?

I feel uncomfortable sleeping without a blanket too, but I make sure my feet aren't covered, and that seems to help a lot with regulating.
If the AC is set to 72, I'm definitely going to be sweating. 71 is dicey, but 70 works out perfectly.

As a person who can't sleep at all when I'm hot I considered these but we have 3 Maine Coons who would destroy such a device.

So the house a/c is automated to move to a lower temperature at 10PM until 6am instead.

Yes, you do get used to it. To the point that you know you're too warm to safely sleep and prefer the sheet to the blanket.

The only time I use a blanket is when the house dips colder than the AC, like in some winter months (we don't use a heater at night here at the beach in so-cal.)

Our foam topper supposedly has some gel or somethign to keep it cool.
Also the box fan in the room blows the air around to help make it feel less hot

A fan.

Without a fan blowing on me I almost sweat to death while sleeping. Been like that since I was a kid. Still happens sometimes but not guaranteed like it would be without the fan.

I'm tellin ya, just use a sheet. You'll get used to it and find the right temp.

Get used to not having the weight of a blanket on you. That is the ONLY problem you have, actually, is your addiction to feeling the weight of a blanket on you.

If you must use a blanket, you're gonna have to set your AC to 65ish to keep from waking up sweaty.

I don't get night sweats (unless I'm sick or something) but I can sympathize with anyone that does, it sucks being all sweaty and good luck trying to fall back asleep. That looks like a neat device. If I had that issue I'd definitely be trying it.

I do like it cold in my room though, I avoid running the heat in the evening and by the time I go to bed it will be cool enough. In the summer months I'll usually set the AC very low for an hour after I hit the bed then it will turn off automatically.

When I'm on night shifts I tend to just open my bedroom window a tad, when I get home it will be super cold in my room.

Yeah what scares me about that though is... it's basically just blowing a fan under your covers, right? You sure that helps much? Won't that just make it feel like you don't have covers on at all?

It’s great. My master bedroom gets hot in the summer - not a lot of AC pressure from central air and we probably need to replace it soon. My bedroom gets in the upper 70s and is unbearable. The BedJet blows a nice breeze over my body (under the covers) and allows me to sleep in a cool pocket. If I didn’t have covers on, I’d just be tossing and turning in a hot room. I run a circulating fan in my bedroom regardless and if I had no covers on, it would be too much whereas you can finely tune the BedJet’s fan speed. I’m telling you, after years of suffering in a warm room I took a chance and bought a BedJet on sale and it might be the best purchase I ever made. They make a sheet accessory where the BedJet blows inside the sheet, but I didn’t buy it and have it blowing under my covers.

And to those saying “just cover with a sheet” - lolno. In a warm room, the sheet feels like it is sticking to me.

70 is fine for me. It's not a comforter or a heavy blanket, when we get really cold here I add another thin blanket on top.

Wow that's pretty cool kinda pricey but hey if it works.

It is pricey for sure. I got one on a huge sale and then bought the latest model a few months ago and gave my old one to my wife. I have problems sleeping as-is and this thing saves me during the summer. During the winter, I like cold air blowing on my face and we keep the house around 64, so the warming feature is great too.

I've heard nothing but good things about the BedJet, but yeah, too rich for my blood and my current approach is working for me.

My girlfriends feet count? :p (brrrrrrrrrrrrr!)

And as mentioned the key is sleeping in a cool room with breathable bedding. Another very useful tip is get a small fan ... even a very light sustained breeze will cool you off quite a bit.

EDIT: Something else to consider is that most kinds of foam mattress's really do sleep hot. The key to this is that you don't need as much insulation on top since the bottom retains more heat.

i dunno how you guys get so hot

i have to use a sheet + blanket until my room is about 76, then i can switch to using only a sheet

right now my room is 72 and i am freezing unless i use 2 sheets and a blanket

when my room gets down to low 60s then i have to bust out the electric blanket

i've had a room as low as 50 and by that time even the electric blanket was struggling to keep me warm

I always knew you were cold blooded :colbert:

As to the topic at hand. Don't cover your extremities.
