anyone ever use this water powered clock?

i'm thinking of getting my friend a gift and stumbled upon this neat water clock. anybody ever seen or use one of these things? does it actually work? is it decent or really cheesy/cheap?

depends on how old the person getting the gift is? I knwo as a kid i would LOVE that and it is educational. Now well i would sitll find it cool haha but maybe not ever older person would think it is a col gift especially if it doesn't go with the furniture =\
