Anyone ever use the services of mexican workers?

I apologize for using a racial adjective.. but I see a lot of mexican workers standing next to the streets on saturday mornings. I assume they are looking for work

I am moving next week and I need some manpower to move. I have a friend helping me but having more people helps.

Should I be wary in using their services? How much should I pay? It should be about 4-5 hours of work

thats a good amount. you really dont have much to be worried about, other than perhaps the language barrier. it would be cool though to offer them something to eat/drink also.

I would bet they will do fine for you. Just make sure they understand what it is you want them to do.

When I lived in South Florida I was about 14 or so and my parents would give me $100 to clean the garage or to mow the grass, or various other tasks, so I'd go up to the 7-11 and get 2-3 guys pay 'em $20 each and pocket the change. They weren't always mexicans though..

They won't steal your stuff. If they were thieves, they'd be out thieving, not trying to get an honest day's work. I've never heard of anyone having any trouble with these guys, as lnog as you can tell them what it is that you need. As long as you can get at least one guy that speaks some English (or you speak Spanish), you're probably fine.

Just pay in cash and have a cooler of ice cold Corona. When I moved, I based their pay off the min. wage + how hard they were working. The two guys that I hired got $60+beer+ride back to home depot for 4 hours work.

I would seriously doubt you would have problems with these guys. They're trying to earn an honest buck to support themselves and their families-wheter here or back home.

Don't assume every Mexican is illegal and every illegal is Mexican.
