My company is switching our medical insurance as of next month to Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield and I am trying to decide between an EPO plan or a PPO plan.
PPO is more flexible as you can get reimbursement for all providers including out of network and is also cheaper, while EPO is more expensive and doesn't cover any out of network reimbursement.
EPO has a major advantage though, it pays 100% of all expenses for doctors visits, surgeries, emergency visits, etc. while PPO only pays 90% after deductible. It's major disadvantage is that is doesn't pay any out of network visits.
Anyone ever use an EPO, how was it?
Thanks guys, I appreciate the opinions!
