Anyone ever use a serial data cable for cell phones?

I just got a nokia 8290 phone and it came with a serial data cable. Now there was no software given with the data cable so how do I make this thing work?

i have a cable for my 8260..

I Just downloaded the logomanager and it still doesn't work... I think my data cable is busted or something. Says Cannot find phone or something. I tried com port 1 and 2 and still nothing...

On my Motorola, I just use standard Hayes modem commands on the corresponding COM ports and it works fine. Same with my PDA setup.
