Anyone ever use a motherboard bios editor?

Looking to upgrade the silicon image bios on the sata controller that is integrated into one of my gigabytes that uses award bios 6 (latest bios from gigabyte does not contain it).

The one that I found out on sourceforge was from 2k4. If anyone has ever done this, what tools did you use?
