Anyone ever use a Linksys router with a Cisco 675 on DSL?

I'm going nuts.
Private 10. net

Cisco 675 has been operational for years. Want to use the Linksys (1 port) as a DHCP server and firewall. Have tried every configuration I can think of... no link light.

The Cisco has been set up for NAT. Have been running 3-5 comps on static 10. ip's for a couple of years. ISP's tech support are idiots.

Help?

I haven't used this combination but it poses an interesting question: Why do you want the Linksys AND the Cisco? They do all the same things, unless you have some kind of wierd ISP but it sounds like you have the cisco doing DHCP and NAT.

The only thing you gain is having a switch for your LAN, which you can probably buy cheaper anyway. The DMZ feature on the Linksys is useless because it's behind the Cisco anyway, which effectively acts as a firewall.

Your configuration would have to be ISP -> Cisco -> Linksys => pc's.

I think Russ has that setup running though.

Well... that's what I was thinking, but the Linksys requires an RJ-45 to connect to the DSL. Line in from wall is RJ-11 going into the 675. Dealing with the 675 is such a pain, I'd love to eliminate it altogether...
I wonder if there is an RJ-45 connection that goes from DSL to Linksys?

I talked to Russ about it, he has dynamic IP - which is different than my static setup.
I'd like to just use the 675 as a gateway and let the Linksys do the real work... <sigh>

.paldo,
That was in fact the nature of my inquiry. Since the interface to the Cisco is so akward, I was reluctant to try it unless I could find another that had been successful.
Russ thinks the WAN port on the Linksys may be bad though, so we're checking that out first at his office.

I wasn't trying to screw with your universe or anything but it just seems that you are trying to add an unnecessary layer in your network.

Have you ever tried to use the web interface on the cisco?

Either way you're in better (helping) hands now.

Have you tried the SMC Barricade. It's an excellent product and it works wonders for me (4port dual switch, print server capabilities, and internet firewall). Click here to see a product review on it.
