I bought a 5.4oz bowl of Sandalwood scent and tried it last night. Man, it lathers up quickly and you get such a smooth shave with it. My face still smells good this morning.

I love this stuff!

Also recommend a quality brush to apply it with. I went with a Parker shaving brush.

I got my brush from the dime store back when there was still dime stores, and you could expect to find shaving brushes there :^D

The brand has worn off, but it's a nice brush. I use African black soap as a shaving soap, but I'm not that particular.

I've been using New York Shaving Co cream for a while now in the Old St Patricks scent, it works very well with some pre shave oil and has a nice subtle smell.

I cant tell if this is an old timer or a metro thing. Shaving soap? Shaving cream comes in a can and smells like air freshener.

I tried it as well, I can't say I'm that impressed. I think I prefer the more dry "puck" soaps to the already jelly consistency of the Taylor of Old Bond Street. They also last... MUCH...MUCH longer.

Here are a couple other soaps that I have been reccomended by others:

What I need is a good bowl - and I'm thinking of going with this:

For Brush / Razor, I went with Edwin Jagger on both. I have no qualms with my badger brush, but I haven't tried others to compare:

Shaving cream does not come in a can.

A bunch of shit comes in a can, and it's pretty horrible shit.

Call us old-timers if you want, but it gives you a much better shave.

I generally shave with Proraso which is good and cheap. Especially when you pick up C.O. Bigelo (re-branded Proraso) at a Bath and Body Works sale. The Taylor of Bond Street is way better though. I'll buy one every now and then for a little change of pace. I like the St. James' scent the best of what I've tried so far.

I use that kind. It's pretty good, but I've found it a little finicky. If I don't use enough water, it dries out pretty fast and isn't effective. If I use too much water it gets all runny and just kind of melts off my face.

Guess that's pretty obvious, but it seems like you need to mix with just the right amount of water, or the lather gets messed up. Hell of a lot better than Edge shaving gel or anything though.
