Hoodia is suppose to make your system think that you are not hungry? Sounds more like starving without feeling it?

My prediction is this:

In a few years Hoodia will be listed in one of those late-night commercials from those questionable/cheap law firms that claim, "If you or someone you know has ever taken the diet supplement Hoodia, you might be entitled to a cash reward. Hoodia has been known to cause <insert massive health problems here>."

You're better off sticking to the tried and true method of eating less and moving more.

Tried it, didn't like it. I used those pills a couple of times, and I felt sick to my stomach when I did. I sure didn't feel hungry, though :disgust:

I've tried it and while I lost 5 lbs I don't think it was the hoodia. It did curb my appetite just a bit, but it wasn't enough. I tried the good stuff too... Hoodoba, which is normally highly recommended. I think its another placebo hype to be honest. I'm back to my normal weight now.

I looked into it a bit, and what I found was that it was either really expensive if genuine ($50+/bottle), or cheap products being sold by shady dealers that didn't even contain much or any of the actual plant extract. Not worth it.

For once and for all, there is no pill, no diet, no 'system', no supplement, no vitamin, no device, and no technique that will "work" in the long run for weight-loss. The only thing that really works is to eat better and be more physically active. That's it.

I was just looking for something to control my appetite. I work and go to school full time. I still end up going to the gym 4 times a week. My problem currently is my eating habits. Lots of coffee, soda to stay awake. Crappy fast food lunches or dinners and on the run... which is not good at all.

But then people would have to actually get off their asses and do something. Much easier to pop a pilll.

Hunger pangs are messages from your body telling your brain that you need food. It's up to the individual to put the proper, clean, well-portioned macro- and micronutrients into their bodies.

When you're hungry, eat. Just don't wolf down a Whopper or a bucket of Ben & Jerry's. Have sensible portioned food from good sources.

My tip: When shopping for food, only purchase foods that are along the outside walls of the supermarket; Fresh vegetables and fruits, meat, etc. Stay away from the aisles; canned and prepackaged foods. For breads, don't buy the pre-packaged stuff, no matter what it says on the wrapper. Buy a loaf from the bakery department. Most major supermarket chains have a bakery and they use better ingredients not High Fructose Corn Syrup like pre-packaged bread.

There is only one product I have ever found that actually worked.

It was caled "Block and Bind". Vitamin World sold it for awhile. You can still buy it online.

It contained Phaseolamin which is an extract from white kidney beans. It stops your digestive system from breaking down starches and absorbing them.

It also contains a marine fiber that binds to fat, so it passes through you.

There are some other ingredients known to help balance your sugar levels and decrease apetite. Over all, the product works very well. My had taken it, and it made a big improvement in weigh loss, but it was steady and gradual. She was satisfied faster when she ate meals, and didn't crave sweets between meals. It also did NOT mess with her heartbeat, it did not constipate her or give her diahreah, it did not make her tired.

I've used dihydrogen monoxide as an appetite suppressant. It's effective but it can be expensive.
