anyone ever stayed in the poconos? hotel advice please for romantic getaway

anyone have any experience with any nice romantic budget hotels/resorts/cottages?

we're looking to go away on labor day weekend and we can't seem to figure out where we can go that is relatively decent and fits within our budget. for two nights (fri and sat only), the one recommended place i got was in excess of $700. obviously, i'm not looking to spend that much, but i'd like to have some sort of amenities (suite, spa-whirlpool type dealy) too. i'm willing to skimp on amenities for a good place with a great price.

so has anyone ever been up there and know where we should look?

edit: does this really confirm my suspicion that most everyone on ATOT is a virgin? 😛
 
I was looking to go there a few weeks ago. I checked out the Philadelphia Craigslist and they had some listings for places to rent, might be worth a look.
 
thanks daniel. maybe i'll look there, although the poconos aren't very close to philly (and we're actually planning on heading the opposite direction on sunday).

it's so sad that nobody on ATOT has any experience with romantic getaways 😕

as probably the only member here that actually lives in the poconos, The ceasars resorts are probably your best bet for romantic. Fernwood and The Chateau are nice alternatives also

thanks. we were looking at the ceasars resorts but they are awfully expensive and we're still saving up for our honeymoon (which will probably coincide with our first wedding anniversary), so we're looking for budget getaways in the interim.

i'll definitely look into those options for the future. since my husband's parents are right off I80 and the poconos are on the way, we may consider other weekends at the aforementioned hotspots 🙂
