Friend got denied her Non-immigrant Visa to visit the USA from Ecuador. She was planning to come visit me and some friends in another part of the country. We didn't think it would have been a problem since she's been here several times in the past. (wonder if she got denied due to Snowden :$)

Anyways, looks like she won't be able to appeal, so she'll have to re-apply. I started looking into it as well and saw that I could "sponsor" her. Anyone ever went through this process? How long did it take and did you run into any issues?

My folks sponsored my uncle from China back in the early 80s, and their only complaint was the paperwork and having to wake up at 430am to go to the office. Otherwise it didn't seem like my uncle didn't have any trouble getting in here.

My parents themselves were sponsored by one of my aunts, and other than a paperwork mixup of the sponsor and the sponsored at the office, they're still here now (naturalized citizenship).

I can ask them later for more clarification if you'd like.

I'm a naturalized citizen myself. My Mom brought us over to the states a couple years after working here on a work visa way back in the 70's. I'll ask her about how she brought the rest of us over, but I think she had to petition us or something like that...so may be a different process altogether.

Looks like a lot of paperwork so far, so I'm thinking my friend's trip over will have to wait until next summer.

Damn...form I-134 asks for Certificate of Citizenship/Naturalization number. Mom says she doesn't have it or had lost it over the years. It costs $149 to apply for a copy. No where on the form does it ask for passport number. No wonder why illegal immigration sounds so much easier...
