It would be nice to get a couple hundred bucks, but I really just want someone to tow it away without charging.
Do junkyards usually pay anything for older non-running cars?
I called up a junk yard, explained what happened, and they picked it up and gave me $75 bucks for what was left... I didn't have theft insurance either, so that's all I got out of my poor car...
My wife called several charities and none of them wanted it.
It's an 87 Mercury Sable with no A/C, no heat, no upholstery on the ceiling, not much paint left on the roof, hood, and trunk, no working door handle on the inside drivers door, and not running.
It would probably take at least $1000 of work to get it to the point that it could be sold for $800. So it isn't worthwhile for any charity to accept it as a donation.
But it's got less than 50k miles on it so I would think there would be some decent life left in most of the parts.
