Anyone ever see an Eizo FlexScan F980?

I'm in the market for a top-o-the-line 21" monitor. I really want to stay away from aperture grill monitors cuz of the damper wires. I've done a bit of research and came across the Eizo FlexScan F980. Other than being incredibly expensive, the specs and handful of reviews I've read make this sound like the greatest shadow-mask monitor ever made. If it's true, I'll save up a bit longer and get one.

My question is: has anyone ever seen one in person? How does it compare to something like the Sony G500 (which *is* aperture grill, but a lot of folks swear by)? Unfortunately, none of the stores where I live carry the monitor, so I don't have the benefit of "try before you buy".

Thanks!!!

I haven't seen an F980 but I've been using an F550iw for years and it is still as crisp, sharp, and bright as when I bought it seven years ago. You can read 1 point type in the corners. All the reviews I have seen on the F980 say that it is the monitor you buy if cost is no object.

Thanks dkozloski - the reviews I've read say the same thing. It's nice to know you've had an Eizo for 7 years and it's still as good as the day you got it. If I'm going to spend $1,700+ on a monitor, I want it to last 🙂

Anyone else see this one in person?
