Anyone ever room with females? (As a male?)

So I put an add on kijiji looking for anyone who needed a roomate willing to take my dog and I in. (The apartment hunt thing did not go well). I got almost 18 responses in a 24 hour span, all females who volunteered to help take care of my dog (hahaha yeah yeah). I've actually never roomed with females before (most of them are 2 females in a 3 bedroom type thing). I already understand the don't shit where you sleep/eat thing so I wouldn't be trying to get with them, but is it really that much different from rooming with all guys?

i was in an apartment (3guys 1 girl). me and a buddy shared a room, the girl and other guy were in single rooms. worked out fine.

edit: fixed for clarity and lulz

It depends.

1. Are you going to be sharing bathrooms?
2. How promiscuous is the roommate?
3. How clean is the roommate?
4. Will she want you to watch Grey's Anatomy or similar type show with her?

I thought there was only one girl? 😕

I'm currently living with a female. Messiest person I have ever met but the bills do get paid! (she owns this place)

Sharing a bathroom, its a 3 bedroom townhouse on University. One of them is in 3rd year of law, the other is working on her Thesis.

Uh, you don't sleep with your family, your roommates, or your co-workers, got it?

OP, I've done it, but I'm not sure that, generally speaking, I would recommend it. You never really know people until you live with them, and the gender difference is simply yet another pitfall to throw in there.

That said, any general advice like this is nearly useless. You have to take these things on a case-by-case basis.

living with a girl looks like the shit for some guy who has never done it, but is shit for guys who have.

this is doomed to fail or shens. What kind of ad did you post, some kind of sappy martyr story?

Anyway about 90% of the time if you are going to room with chicks it will be just like with guys. Be prepared for all the bullshit that goes with not being able to have your own place.

You do need to make sure you are not the jealous type or want to look out for them (a grownup is on their own because they are done with parenting)...of course this goes both ways. Last a roommate wants to hear (and I have seen/heard this happen) is having a guest over past 9pm on a Friday/weekend is 'forbidden' or 'you need to drink less in this place' or ...

I have known of some guy/girl combos that were friends with benefits situations. Obviously it was just a physical thing and they both knew how to handle that usually, some didn't go so good. Sex doesn't really cloud anything if you weren't expecting the other person to be your significant other in the morning.

but like Perknose says...you need to really screen your potential roommates...most don't do this and just shop price or location. It makes for a miserable situation. I can't tell you how many times I was a guest and just had to bail because of what a total fucking asshole someone's roommate(s) were. I am glad the only people I ever ended up living with were significant others. Having no 'roommates' ever let's you really just be yourself.
