I just submitted an RMA request with Fujitsu...their "No Excuses" policy sounds pretty good, but worries me a little. The drive I'm doing the RMA for is only an 8 gig hd, but they're gonna put a hold of $240 bucks on my cc until I send them back the old HD. This is the first time ive ever RMA's something, do they usually send you the same exact model? Cause this one was made in 04/99, and its 8 gig/5400rpm/ata66....any chance of them sending something better?

$240 seems a bit steep for an 8 gig drive. I personally wouldn't take the chance with it. You can get a new 40 gig one for a $120 or so, even less if you catch a sale.

the drive was given to me by a friend about 6 months ago, but it just stopped working, so I checked to see if it was still covered by warranty and it is, so i requested an RMA. So once I get the replacement, I'll just send the defective one back. I just dont understand why they put a hold on my credit card for such a high amount until they receive the old one back

I have RMA'd to Fujitsu about 15-20 times.

After they receive your drive, they remove the hold. Be sure you ship it either UPS, FedEx or Airborne to insure they receive it. Should they charge your credit card after receiving it, contest the charge with you CC company. I've never had any problems with them though.

As far as RMA goes, they are very good. In regards to the quality of their drives, that's another story.
