I'm hardly going to link to a pic on AT. Do a google image search (might need to shut off safe search)

If it's hurting (especially to the touch), then I would get it checked out rather than just cutting it off.

The chemicals in the deoderant plus the friction due to the hair is irritating it.

"Some patients treat themselves by tying a thread around the stalk. Skin tags have no malignant potential, and can easily be snipped with a scissors, cautery, or CO2 laser."

My 3 year old had one on her neck recently. She picked it off herself.

Hmm, I wonder if they grow back. I have one mole that is kind of a skin tag at the same time. I've had it all my life...

I have one on my hip. Cut it off with a sharp scissor. Bled like hell, then grew back anyway.

I recently had a mole removed, the appointment to the dermatologist specialist is about 6 month. The session lasted about 10 minutes. $20 co-pay, $150 hit for the insurance company (100 for surgery and 50 for lab fees).

I had one of those on the front of my sholder. Ice doesn't make a diff anyway because a skin tag is just skin (no nerves). I used a scalpal and nail clippers to get rid of mine.

I really don't have time. Couldn't I like cauterize it Rambo style or something to stop the blood flow?

It is not the right thing to do, but it is your body and you can try everything once. Might come back though. They are harmless but ugly. Deodorant will hurt for about a week after your removal process. Scarring may occur, but if it is in your arm pit who cares. If it were me I would see a Doctor. But if you want to try it, I can't stop you.

Let us know how it works out.

Cut them off last night. Held an ice cube to the big one for about ten minutes then cut it off with some scissors I had washed and soaked in alcohol. It didn't really hurt much so I snipped the other one as well...FYI the ice cube really works don't try it without (did this for the little one). It started bleeding alot, so I just soaked a gauze in alcohol, stuck it in and closed my arm. Oddly enough it hasn't really hurt since before I removed them. Not even when I got soap or deoderant on it this morning...

Ohh well, I'm :D. Thanks for the advice everyone

Yep, had one in my armpit too. Didn't bother to cut it or anything, just got a good hold of it with my fingernails and gave it a good yank. Stung a titch and bled like crazy.

I don't have time to go to a doctor so I was thinking about numbing it with an ice cube, then cutting them off with scissors.

Anyone know if this works long term?

Goto a doctor, skin tags can be a sign of skin cancer and if they get irritated.... take the time and go.

I wouldn't use scissors, use wire cutters, nail clippers, or something else that will allow you to cut it off close.

I wouldn't even bother with the ice, it's not going to make that big of a difference.

Viper GTS

My wire cutters aren't exactly that clean. Soak the edges in alcohol or hydrogen peroxide? How bad do they bleed?

The one I had removed caused a lot of blood flow. It was located in the same area as yours. I had a doctor do it since they wanted to check and see if it was cancerous.

I think you should have a doctor see it, especially if you're seeing more than one.

I did a few once with nail clippers. Boiled them first. If you get real close it does a pretty good job. It will hurt like hell and will bleed a lot.

Now I just go to the doctor and he burns them off with this electric gun type thing. Much less painful and the results are better too.
