Anyone ever purchase eyeglasses off the web?

It's tempting, turning a $600 store purchase into at $150-200 web purchase but its difficult choosing frames when you can't try them on. Anyone here tried it?

I got the best eyeglasses Hour Eyes had and my total came out to around $275 with the prescription.

You should read the cheap glasses thread in hot deals.

I think quite a few people posted their experience and in general it was good, but they were not talking about designer glasses.

I always get designer frames and the best lenses with all the coatings or whatever you call it. $600 combo. I've priced them out online to $150-200.

Yeah I bought mine from optical4less linked from the hot deals thread. I spent about 1/4 what the same type of glasses cost in the store. But I only wear at night when the contacts are out so the final look wasn't too important.

Pffft, try them out in a B&M, write down the brand and model number, then order online. I was going to do that myself, but I couldn't find glass, safety glasses anywhere. Got 'em locally with progressive lenses for a couple hundred, so I doubt web prices would be any better anyway.
