anyone ever paint on canvas? what are a few pointers to give to a complete newbie?

Heyas,

So I have unprimed canvas... im completely new to this...

First, how do you "stretch" the canvas so u can paint on it?

and am i supposed to "prime" the canvas somehow?

And what are some general pointers u can give me?

use matte medium to prime the canvas.

Use a staple gun if at all possible to get the canvas firmly stretched and soldidly into the wood of the frame. And the matte medium is needed, paint it on the canvas then dry for one day, then add another coat the next day and dry. The canvas will be ready to go then.
