Anyone ever nearly accidentally kill a speeder on the highway?

I'll start. About 3 years ago ... I'll never forget it. I was in a 55. Normally, people just go 75 (because it's one of those odd spots that's not 65. But they used to ticket there alot, so 65 was safe.

It was later i nteh night, so not much traffic. I turn on my right blinker and start changing lanes. And jsut after I start, a motorcycle that was easily going 100+ MPH went by me. (EDIT: This guy came out of no where as he was going 100+ MPH. Ther ewas no one behind me for atleast 0.5 miles. 5 seconds later, I started changing lanes. THIS GUY CAME OUT OF NO WHERE BECAUSE HE WAS AN IIRESPONSIBLE MORON)

I look back at that day on occasion in amazement as to how stupid people can be on the roads. And I also think to myself, if I bumped that guy and he died, I really wouldn't have cared.

Anyone else have an experience like this?

"Almost" is not the same as topic title.🙁

OK, added an edit to the OP. Same as below.

VeggieFrog and i were driving on route 21 from Passaic to Lyndhurst last winter. We came around a curve to find a car had skidded arcoss the highway hit the divider and spun around into the middle lane... in which we were driving.... traffic was snarled in the little patch of road as the other cars tried to avoid it... i went to go into the left lane... pumping my breaks on the icy road ... but there was a guy standing in it...

in the end, i headed for the left lane anyway, and the guy got so scared that he ran and jumped over the divider and ended up in the shoulder on the other side of the highway... he was an asshat and should not have been standing in the left lane of the highway.

Scared the sh!t out of VeggieFrog and me.

EDIT: spelling

Yeah I did that a couple days ago actually. A Fiero a$$hole who had been whipping through traffic finally was going by me at 120 in a 70 zone (kmph) and I almost changed lanes right into him.

If he caught up to you from half a mile back in 5 seconds, he was going about 400mph.

The guy obviously had his afterburner turned on 😀

Oh boy....... Take me litterally please. OK, it's was 0.15 miles and he was going 135 while I go 65. A difference of 70 MPG. To cover 0.15 miles at 70 MPG would take what, 10.5 seconds?

Do I have to post a damned equation to explain this? Never have someone come oput of no where? When someone passes you at a difference of 50+ mph ... it is an event that comes out of no where! Get it?

Yes I had a car accident,I was driving a work truck that weighed 22,000 Lbs empty.

A car went thru a red light,i hit the passenger side of the car,at about 30 mph.

The car was totaled, the passenger side was very badly damaged.

The lady passenger was in the hospital for over 2 weeks, and then went to a rehab/nursing home,to relearn to walk/talk,etc.🙁

Who cares about gas efficiency when there are lives on the line?

Hmm...still would have been your fault.

Switch lanes when safe...if you (almost) hit someone, obviously it wasn't safe

Man, ATOT has deteriorated since it started long ago. Talk about stupid people invading these forums.

How my fault when I have witnesses saying the guy was going 100+? I would get off with a written warning (which I would demand.. thank you father-in-law/lawyer)

I thought you said he was going 135 mph. What witnesses, you never mentioned that?

You would go to jail. Gauranteed. You don't just kill someone and get turned loose with a piece of paper.

You're lack of regard for human life is commendable.

I see I require an edit.

He wasn't placing your life in danger. You were, however, placing his in danger.

Your perspective is all f4ckered up

A motorcycle just doesn't pose a huge threat to a car on the freeway. A car does pose a huge threat to a motorcycle though.

happens to me a lot... I never see these bike riders between lanes as I'm deciding whether to change lanes or not... they are often in your blind spot and I don't look on every single lane change because I trust my wider-rear-view mirror more often than not. These guys really need to stop riding between lanes.

does it even matter how fast he was going? either way, you should've checked before you changed lanes. Just because you checked 5 seconds earlier doesn't mean it's safe. granded, the dude was a dumbass for speeding, but you should've seen him coming.

you better shoulder check or look. these dumbasses cut across three - four lanes on the LIE.

another brilliant example of the ATOT asshole effect in this thread 😛

lets just look really hard for a way we can argue with the OP and be as unreasonable and judgemental as possible shall we?
